ox

For the people of Kanyawegi, a small village in the far west of Kenya, two oxen and a plow mean that they don’t have to wait until the rainy season to plow their fields by hand. In turn, this allows for earlier planting, better harvests, and ultimately a more self-sufficient society.

The price for two oxen and a plow is $500 ($150 per ox and $200 for the plow). We realize that asking for all of this money in one shot is a little steep so instead we are inviting you to buy just a piece of the ox as delineated in the graphic above. Perhaps it's just a horn, or the tail, or two balls and the rump, but each donation will bring us one piece closer to the whole. And, if you donate $20 or more, you get a tax receipt.

Thanks to all and Happy Holidays,
